Our golden rule is…
focus on facts.
Streets Alive Darebin is a resident and ratepayer action group with a vision for thriving neighbourhoods where streets are used by people of all ages, irrespective of whether they choose to walk, cycle, use public transport or drive.
We exist to create the Darebin of the future, fit for high-density living to accommodate future population growth, centred around the concept of the 20-minute city. We believe that this should be achieved through infrastructure investment that focuses on social, health and environmental benefits of living.
We engage in grassroots community action and advocacy through local voices and experiences. Our aim is to create more liveable communities through better streets for businesses, residents and visitors of all ages and abilities, and the environment.
active transport, accessibility, sustainability, future-proof neighbourhoods, green spaces, and a 20-minute city. We engage in public bike rides, consultations with Council and State Government, and elevating the voices of groups with shared interests, eg YIMBY Melbourne.
will bring ideas to the group and work collaboratively to achieve them. Honest and team-spirited (strictly no hero complexes or mansplainers).
people who are good at communications, as we want engagement with different groups in the community. Social media management would also be useful.
because if we spread the load across existing members we won’t burn out existing volunteers.
fortnightly on Thursdays at 6.30pm for 40-60 minutes, sometimes on Zoom, sometimes at a cheap restaurant or pub. We’d like people to attend about every second meeting.
