Location: Darebin, Merri-Bek & Moonee Valley LGAs Commitment level: One-off/Ongoing In person or online? Hybrid

Join passionate Merri-bek, Moonee Valley and Darebin locals standing up for climate, justice and for our reefs, rivers, forests and wildlife! We are a community group of the national Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) and we commit to their principles and align our activities with their campaign priorities.

We believe that by building people power we can fix the system and protect nature. We have a core group of active members who do most of the organising and look after admin, and have a great number of vollies who join in activities and sometimes suggest or organise their own.

We’ll get along if…

…you care about nature and climate, and want to feel like you’re doing something to protect and nurture them. And if you’re eager to get active locally and have an impact beyond your own neighbourhood! All are welcome. If you’ve been at this for decades or are just dipping your toes in recently, we’d love you to join us in making a difference.

We meet up…

  • Monthly (Thursday evening) for organising and planning
  • Monthly (Monday evening online) for campaign letter writing
  • Monthly (first Sunday) with Friends of Merri Creek at Streamteam waterwatch
  • Every couple of months for bushwalking
  • Regular Toolangi visits to the forests during the colder months

Plus ad hoc campaign and nature activities in between!

A first date with us might look like…

Nature activities: e.g. easy walks (Altona RAMSAR wetlands, Werribee Gorge), planting, waterwatch creek health with Friends of Merri Creek. Flexing our campaign muscles: e.g. writing letters, contacting politicians, supporting local groups in their activations. Something social: e.g. a night at the pub!

Not quite feeling the vibes?
